I'm your instructor, Mr. Ming. You can find my contact information in the green color block to the right of this paragraph. Email me anytime you have questions or suggestions towards the course contents. If you want to know me more, you can go to this Google Doc and check out the information. The aim of the course is to develop English major students' consciousness of English-Speaking countries' culture and society, which would help them to better understand some scenes depicted in the English readings. You can read the lesson plan at the end of this page. The course objectives are listed as following:
- Recognize similarities as well as distinctions among the political systems of each country
- Describe the characteristics of geography and population of each country
- Differentiate festivals of each country
- Retell the brief developing history of the countries
- List at least two representatives for each country’s literature

To help you better learn the course contents, the design of the course materials and assignments incorporated several formats of multimedia elements. You'll be able to access videos, podcasts, PDF documents and also tryout quizzes and forums. There are six lessons in total, including the Great Britain, Ireland, Australia, Canada, the United States and New Zealand. You should first go to Course Materials page that can be navigated by first clicking Menu at the top-right corner and then hitting Course Materials. Each lesson's reading requirements and other formats of contents are categorized into lessons. Also, remember to check what kind of assignments are supposed to be finished in that lesson. You can access the assignment requirements in the Assignment page. In addition, there are also some Resources for you to conduct self-study and expand your understanding of the course contents. The last thing I want to remind you is that when you scroll down your cursor, you'll see a green circled button appears at the bottom-right corner, click it and you can back to top of the page.
I wish you could enjoy attending the course and get inspired by the course site and as mentioned above, please feel free to contact me or just navigate yourself to the Contact page and leave your questions there. Good luck!
P.S. Before you start exploring the course materials, please take your time to fill the survey, which will help you and me to better understand your technology backgrounds and make any possible adjustments to the course settings.
